About the agency

Archetype is a global communications agency built for ambitious technology brands.

For more than 40 years, the agency has built a reputation for helping companies tell their growth story. Today, that playbook lives across 21 offices and 650+ people globally. In Australia, the team has built a genuine reputation in B2B technology, working with names like Shopify, Databricks, Xero and Palo Alto Networks, as well as fast-growth challengers looking to make their mark.

You’ll work alongside former journalists, media specialists, content strategists, integrated communication experts and creative thinkers. Together, the Sydney team turns complex ideas into campaigns that earn attention and build influence.

This could mean translating Shopify’s seasonal data into media-worthy stories, launching major projects and events, hosting journalists and industry leaders, or creating thought leadership. You’ll be involved in shaping stories and bringing them to life across strategic communication channels.

Archetype is the place for curious, ambitious people who want to keep learning, and produce great work together. You’ll join a supportive Australian team, backed by a global network, with plenty of opportunities to develop your media and campaign skills, and accelerate your career.

Benefits & Culture

Archetype offers a supportive and inspiring work environment that prioritises curiosity, continuous learning, and flexibility. The culture focuses on empowering individuals to grow their craft, take ownership of their work, and accelerate their career alongside ambitious colleagues. Archetype prioritises diversity, equity, and inclusion across its global network, actively fostering a welcoming environment where unique perspectives are valued to drive the agency’s best work. Benefits include:

  • 20 days annual leave, increasing to 25 days after your first year
  • Hybrid working policy with flexibility to work from home
  • Opportunity to work with global colleagues across 21 international offices
  • Work-from-anywhere program for up to 4 weeks per year
  • Duvet days for spontaneous breaks
  • Summer Fridays with early finishes on the last Friday of every month
  • $300 home office allowance
  • $200 wellness benefit to support physical and mental well-being
  • Monthly contributions toward internet and phone bills
  • Days in lieu when going above and beyond
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities

About the job

This isn’t press release factory work. You’ll be the person who reads Shopify’s Ecommerce Growth Report before anyone else on the team and spots the headline that’s going to drive media coverage. B2B tech PR rewards people who are analytical. This is a perfect role for someone who can connect a product feature to a market shift to a journalist’s news agenda, then land the story.

  • Turn dense data and research reports into sharp, newsworthy angles for tier-1 business and tech media
  • Build and pitch stories that directly move the needle on a client’s growth — market entry, funding rounds, category leadership
  • Get close enough to client strategy to understand why a company is winning, not just what they’re announcing
  • Track competitor moves and market trends to spot the story before it’s obvious
  • Work across established names and fast-growth challengers. You’ll see both what scale looks like and what it takes to get there

About you

The best people in this role aren’t just good at PR, they’re genuinely curious about tech. You read about a funding round because you want to know what happens next, not because it’s on your reading list. You notice when a product feature signals a bigger market shift. That curiosity is what turns a client update into a story worth pitching,  and it’s what makes this job genuinely fun to do well.

Essential experience:

  • Minimum 1 year agency experience in PR or communications, ideally with B2B or technology clients
  • Strong writer who can turn complexity into a clear, compelling narrative

The ideal candidate:

  • You’d rather dig into a 40-page industry report than skim a press release — data is where you find the story
  • You want to understand how a tech company grows, not just how to announce it
  • You’re comfortable in ambiguity — B2B tech moves fast and the “story” isn’t always obvious on day one
  • You get genuine satisfaction watching a client you’ve worked on go from unknown to category leader
