About the agency

Ten years ago, Neon Black opened its doors with a simple ambition: to create bold, creative work that cuts through. A decade later, the agency has grown into one of Sydney’s most respected independents – still boutique, still founder-led, but competing shoulder-to-shoulder with global networks.

Along the way, they’ve built a reputation for campaigns that don’t just make headlines but spark conversations, from BritBox’s star-powered relaunch with Kris Marshall, to a floating pizza island on Sydney Harbour, and the launch of Hay Street Market, a major dining and cultural precinct in the heart of Haymarket. Their recent win of the Philips home portfolio against international agencies is the clearest sign yet that Neon Black’s momentum isn’t slowing down any time soon.

Now, as Neon Black celebrates its 10th anniversary with fresh client wins, a tight-knit team, and a renewed appetite for ambitious creative work, this is a pivotal moment to join and contribute to the agency’s next decade.

Benefits & Culture

At Neon Black, collaboration comes first. The team is close-knit and supportive, with founders actively involved while giving people the autonomy to lead, grow, and make their mark. It’s a place where careers are nurtured, and where alumni often describe their time as the launchpad to the next big step.

Professional development is built into the culture. Each team member has a dedicated annual training budget, with recent programs including helping team members with client confidence by sending them on a NIDA presentation course, and helping managers lead better through a Liberated Leaders course. Lunch-and-learns with journalists and industry experts keep the team inspired and connected. Progression is based on merit, not tenure, ensuring that those who deliver and show leadership are recognised.

  • 20 days annual leave (includes Christmas shutdown)
  • $1,000 individual yearly training budget
  • Early Friday finishes during summer months
  • Time in lieu for weekend/evening work

About the job

Neon Black are looking for a confident, culturally tuned-in PR Account Executive to join their growing team. You’ll work across an exciting portfolio of well-known consumer and lifestyle brands, supporting day-to-day client activity, executing campaigns, and helping brands earn their place in culture.

You’ll be equally comfortable juggling project timelines and account administration as you are pitching stories and securing top-tier media coverage. If you’re passionate about creativity, storytelling, and making brands part of the conversation, we’d love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the team with day-to-day client communications, helping ensure clients are well looked after by prepping WIP agendas, taking actionable meeting notes, and assisting with routine requests with professionalism and warmth.
  • Support campaign development and execution, helping to ensure projects run smoothly and on time.
  • Drive media relations – crafting compelling pitches, building strong relationships with journalists and influencers, and securing consistent earned coverage.
  • Support on influencer relations – from seeding products, to paid campaigns, you’ll be open to learning how to earn attention across other sectors.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team, managing upwards effectively by keeping Account Managers and Directors updated on progress.
  • Assist in identifying reactive opportunities, helping tap brands into cultural moments, trends, and news cycles that align with their values and audiences.
  • Take ownership of coverage tracking, drafting reports, and assisting with post-campaign evaluations so clients can see the measurable impact of your work.

About you

The ideal candidate:

  • You’re a driven PR Account Executive (or an experienced Account Coordinator ready to step up) with agency experience – ideally in consumer brands or lifestyle.
  • You have excellent communication skills, a high attention to detail, and know how to manage upwards with ease.
  • You know how to make brands part of the conversation and love the buzz of seeing your stories come to life across media and social.
  • You’re highly organised, proactive, and confident handling multiple project timelines and fast-moving priorities.
  • You’re passionate about PR and building a career in a creative, fast-paced environment.
