About the agency

SHOOK launched in 2020 by power duo Gemma Moroney and Damon Statt with the financial backing of Hope & Glory.

SHOOK combines behaviour design and creativity to fix brand, business and behaviour challenges. The agency works across creative, communications and campaigning, helping good brands make a positive impact.

Recent work has included: defining the purpose and brand narrative of two global brands; putting pressure on the government to change policy and creative comms campaigns for FMCG brands and charities including The Ruth Strauss Foundation.

After a raft of new wins, they are hiring extensively into the agency at a number of levels.

This is an exciting time to join the agency. Getting in at ground level allows you to be part of the founding team, contributing to a lot of different areas of the business.  There won’t be a feeling of hierarchy, it’s a place where you will be able to grow your skills and career quickly.

Culture

SHOOK exists to shake stuff up and make a difference. To work at this agency, you need to be hungry for impact – whether that’s in perception change for a brand or policy change for a charity.

You’ll love getting stuck in to help get the job done and will be someone that enjoys working above and below your role to ensure client deliverables are achieved.

We promise you’ll learn fast and have a lot of fun doing it.

SHOOK’s values are a big part of its culture: Open | Honest | Restless | Generous | Fun – there’s more about how these apply to who we’re looking for below.

Gemma & Damon also feel strongly about the opportunity to build a new agency in the right way, making it an equitable place for everyone. They have a wide range of pledges in place to create an anti-racist, accessible and inclusive place to work and this will always be part of the culture.

About the job

  • You’ll be supporting 3 – 4 client teams across creative comms campaigns and press office work, mainly with a consumer focus but with some trade/B2B work
  • You’ll get involved in campaigns from start to finish and will also have the opportunity to be involved in creative thinking and new business pitches
  • Your work will involve everything from getting to know editorial media and influencers, understanding social and owned channels and writing for different channels to helping with desk and tool-based research, helping develop creative assets and helping the account run smoothly

About You

  • To us, it doesn’t matter what school you went to or where you’re from. What does matter is wanting to make an impact by helping create & deliver for our clients
  • We’re looking for someone who matches our values:
    • Open – you’re open to different points of view and new ways of doing things, interested and curious about new things, open to other people’s perspectives
    • Honest – you aren’t afraid to have an honest conversation
    • Restless – you’re restless to find the right answers, to have your colleagues’ back, to make the best work
    • Generous – you’re someone that goes above & beyond and is generous with how you treat colleagues and clients with time, advice and concern
    • Fun – we’re relaxed (but never reckless), so you’re someone who wants to have fun whilst working hard for clients…you’re also intrigued by the funny little ways people have (because you’ll be learning about our behaviour design-led approach)
  • In terms of experience and skills, you should have 12-18 months experience in a permanent role, working on consumer comms campaigns (this could be PR or PR and social) where you’ve done things like supporting the team on consumer/category research, got to know the media and what makes a talking point and have started building up your contacts, have written in different styles and, most importantly, be up for learning a completely different way of thinking about problems vs what you might have used before
  • If you have extra skills like photography, editing, design then that’s also brilliant but not mandatory
